Static Prevails
Presented by Rob Dahl and Dave Merrit
MP3 Download(s): July 11th . July 10th . July 9th . July 8th . July 7th . July 4th .
One of the most popular shows on FromeFM, Static Prevails is the creative constellation of music that occurs when presenters Dave Merrit and Rob Dahl coincide in the studio.
The show takes its name from the 1996 classic album of the same name, released by Jimmy Eat World, and in the past it has entertained the likes of rising star Luke Leighfield, master of piano-styled pop, and Somerset Battle of the Bands winner Crescent Shoreline in the studio.
Dahl says of the show: "I'd like to think Static Prevails is going to be a mish mash of what Dave and I listen to and what people want to hear. I mean Dave and I have quite different music tastes already so there should be an interesting dynamic between us.
"A lot of the stuff will be rock-based but I really hope we don't get stuck in genres. Some of the stuff you'll expect us to play we will play but I think some other stuff might catch a few people off guard and have them thinking "Did they really just play that?" Also we are planning to have some pretty cool guests and give outs and be as interactive as we can be on a local community radio station, so I can promise you it will make for an interesting listen if nothing else. "

After almost a decade of posturing the two have agreed to a live on-air duel - each playing the songs they would most listen to in given situations (including "The song you'd have at your funereal" and "The song you'd play on a perfect day, that isn't Perfect Day by Lou Reed'). In the second Wake Up set, you the listener gets to choose the situations. This could get nasty....equally it could get petty!

One of the people involved in that campaign is Melanie Holihead. A resident of Lower Keyford, Melanie's here to tell us about that campaign and to explain what, for the people who live there, makes Lower Keyford such a special place.
